Cross-Border Paraplanner / Financial Planner

White Lighthouse Investment Management is looking for a Paraplanner / Junior Financial Planner to join our fast-growing practice that specializes in cross border financial planning and investment management. The planner will work closely with the founder of the firm and may provide some support to the team of 4 senior CFP® Professionals on a remote basis as all planners are located in either the US East Coast or in Switzerland.

Some of the main duties include but are not limited to client onboarding, collection of compliance information and data required to open accounts (primarily at Charles Schwab and Pershing); working with transfer forms and other administrative work with our primary custodians. Additional responsibilities may include helping our planners get ready for client meetings by preparing meeting materials, assembling financial reports, situation modelling in financial planning software, and assisting in the design and implementation of our new CRM system. We are looking for an individual who works well on their own and with a team and who is comfortable in a multi-cultural environment. The individual should be highly self-motivated towards continuing education both formal and informal. Client and Firm Confidentiality and Cybersecurity awareness and practice are critical.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work directly with firm owner onboarding and advising new and existing clients for financial planning and investment management needs.

  • Collect data from clients in order to prepare account opening and transfer documents as well as on-going account maintenance and investment policy statements.

  • Prepare on-demand client reports to support Planner meetings.

  • Liaison with Custodian Service Teams to ensure all client and firm tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner– Especially Charles Schwab and Company.

  • Support our Office Manager in preparing tax and financial reporting to support clients’ diverse tax reporting needs in multi jurisdictions.

  • Execution of trades with supervision of planners.

  • Customized training program to gain expertise as a cross-border planner includes multiple years of part-time intern work with the international tax department of a leading accounting firm.

  • When ready: Implement full financial planning process with new clients as well as provide answers to financial planning questions

  • Manage investment accounts using firm guidelines.

  • Possibly assist team in implementing new CRM system and on-going data-entry into CRM system.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years-experience in Financial Services

  • Series 7, CFP®, CFA or equivalent

  • Experience working with Schwab Service team on International Issues a big plus though not required – Industry experience highly preferred

  • Preference will be given to bilingual candidates with international experience

  • Excellent Communication skills – Written and Verbal

  • Very comfortable with desktop technology

  • Ability to maintain full compliance with State and Federal Securities Laws and White Lighthouse’s internal policies and procedures

Working Location
